Internet's Five Commandments

Normally, I would use the term M.A.P.O.T.I. I got from a YouTube video I saw meaning most annoying people on the internet whenever I see the type on Facebook. But today I would like to express my sincere concern about the growing disturbance in online social networks. So I made a few Dos and Don’ts for me to never be like them and hopefully you would consider it as well...

5.) Too much acronym usage is a DON'T.

Usually one would use such and shorten a few words just to save time but if you look really closely it would be as if you’re talking in another language. Plus it doesn’t help your vocabulary at all. Imagine the world talking only with letters, which would be horrible. And it wouldn’t be fair to all those who’s not used to it…

4.) Posting bad words is a DON’T.

Whether you see it on a status, comment or an amusing meme, bad words is neither funny nor helpful. It may be to some people but remember your language defines you. It shows how you express yourself so please express yourself in a tactical way.

3.) Pornography is a DON'T.

Seriously, people don’t have to do share any of the like. A picture, video, or even just a little joke can ruin the innocent minds of those younger people using the same social network. Curiosity is inevitable to humans much more to children always eager to learn new things. Please don’t let those things be the end of their purity.

2.) Checking your privacy is a DO.

Yes, I know that it’s a social site and you have to interact with people but that doesn’t mean you have to pour every bit of information about you. Had a fun time in the beach? Tag only those who were with you, no need for anyone to see your perfect summer body. Adding personal information? Choose carefully what you want to share about yourself. You never know when someone is stalking you or something.

1.) Cyber-bullying is a SERIOUS DON'T.

Sometimes it would just be a little joke but it could get out of hand. Maybe if you would just step back and think to yourself: Why even do this? Is it because it’s fun? Is it because you get popular by making someone look bad? No don’t do it. Just don’t.

And that concludes my Internet’s five Commandments. So what are you going to do?
