Around the Philippines in 1 Blog

Around the Philippines in 1 Blog

When I say ‘Fun’, you say ‘Philippines’! Just kidding… Warning! The title doesn’t mean that this blog would feature every nook and cranny the Philippines has. I only meant to share the best five places in Philippines I’ve ever been in the short span of fifteen years of my life. Once you get there, you won't regret it.

1.) Bohol: Chocolate Hills

When I was there, I was barely nine years old and I was far more ignorant than I am now. I remember it being green not brown because it was a rainy season and being disappointed that it wasn’t like the Hershey’s  as I imagined but the sight still didn’t disappoint me.

Being nine and all back then, you’d expect a whiny little girl asking their mom to hurry up with the photos but instead I just stood there understanding what everyone was all fussing about. I could remember the prominent hill among all the rest right in front of me. I thought to myself: “Wow, mother nature had beautiful goose-bumps.” Sadly I don’t have any pictures that I can find to prove that I’ve been there…

2.) Batangas: Anilao

The brightly colored fishes darted around as we huddle up in groups chasing after them. Our laughter floated up as bubbles appeared in the air as they explore the deep unknown world of the sea. Once or twice. we would nearly catch one but then we would bump into each other. The bread trying to lure the fish was all gone during the trip on the boat. Well, you need to have some popcorn during a great movie right? But this one was real. It was real beauty right in front of us. No artificial whatnots or anything. As we speed away in our little boat I stare at the pink horizon and I try to understand how. How could anything like this be ignored?

 3.) Bukidnon: Musuan Peak

I woke up early in the morning just to be able to climb this mountain. Well, my dad woke me up but at least he only had to shout my name three or four times and nudge me off the bed. Once you get on the foot of the mountain a question popped into my mind. “What would I expect there?”

I had my arrogance to get on top first and my backpack with one and half kilos of roasted chicken and their sweet chocolate Carabao milk (No, it’s not as disgusting as it sounds ok?) for our breakfast to be feasted on top as a prize. But after a few meters I decided to fall back from the group and just look at the trees, hear the birds, but mostly admire the view. It’s true that it’s a really long and tiring walk to the top but when you get there… Wow. It’s just paradise.

4.) Bukidnon: Dahilayan Adventure Park

You know that dream where you get to fly and then you wake up? Well, you don’t have to because here in the Philippines can be found the longest zip-line in Asia. Ta-da! It’s a dream come true! Fear of heights? Look above and possibly touch some clouds! Look around and see the beautiful mountains and forests! Fear of falling? I guarantee positively safe. I’ve tried and tested it with my cousins from Mindanao and… Well, swimming in the air was more like it. That’s me doing the superman style although I know it’s a bit blurry but I got a certificate of surviving the longest zip-line so it should have some incentive. Some word of advice? Wear rubber shoes!

5.) Bukidnon: Sawaga River- Villanueva Resort

I wasn’t planning a swim there in the first place and you can't exactly call it swimming... It started because of a little accident with my sister goofing around and all. But once I got wet, I thought to myself “Live my life to the fullest right?”

I know it's kind of odd to hang around a live river. But it’s a great place to have photos and just relax underneath the sun while hearing the water crash into the rocks.
